Like other downsized baby boomers in the most recent economic decline, Thomas, a former academic, has reinvented herself. As a certified grant writer, she established Atlanta Grants, a grant writing and nonprofit consulting service. In between grant projects, she works freelance as a magazine and webzine writer, as well as a some-time editor. She is very happy not answering to anyone but the IRS and her very demanding dog, Couscous.
